Methotrexate can be taken either with food or in empty stomach. However, you have to take care that the dug is taken at the same time every day if you want the desired results. It is also advised to drink lots of fluid while taking Methotrexate.

Inform your doctor if you have heart, liver or kidney problems. Do not hide from you doctor if you any complications of the immune and nervous systems or inflammation, mouth sores, folic acid deficiency, active infections or if you are receiving chemotherapy.

Well, methotrexate should not be taken for a longer period and also you have to strictly follow the dosage. The drug is known to cause serious or life-threatening side effects on lungs, liver, kidneys and bone marrow. Strictly follow your doctor’s direction.

Methotrexate is usually not prescribed for pregnant women and for those who hope to get pregnant as the drug is known to cause harm to the unborn babe. It is also better not to get pregnant when you are on Methotrexate medication. Mothers should also not breast-feed when taking the drug as it is traced in breast milk.
